As you know or might not know we have a Non-Profit Organization entitled The Black Talk Media Project. The Black Talk Media Project is a registered non-profit organization in the state of North Carolina.

The purpose of The Black Talk Media Project is to:
Create local, state, national and global online news and foster deep community engagement. Introduce Web 2.0 tools to local communities and help them develop publishing platforms and standards to support local conversations and community organization. With the main goal of developing media centers with local presence and developing low powered FM Stations.
WE BELIEVE:
All media has the power to inform, educate and influence the public. If used properly and by adhering to moral and ethical standards, media can and should be used to improve the lives and communities of the global citizen. This is our platform.
Our Current Development:
We are very close to developing our first Media Center in the City of Rocky Mount North Carolina. We have a partnership with two non-profits in that city, Movements Unlimited and The O.I.C. (Opportunities Industrial Center) to help facilitate a Youth and Young Adult Personal Development Program. This program will serve the following:
• Address negative and self-destructive “systems” and belief systems” that have been internalized by youth and young adults.
• Develop help-seeking and problem-solving patterns (e.g., anger management, pro-social behaviors) for youth and young adults that will enable them to improve their lives.
• Restore and reinforce the message that doing good matters, and when it is understood and internalize, it can lead to positive, healthy and life-sustaining experiences and out comes.
• Promote a positive view and definition of what Manhood and Womanhood truly is.
Develop and promote activities that will enhance the life-options and life-opportunities for youth and young adults.
The primary age group the program will service is youth 13 to 17 and young adults 18 to 21. The focus of the program centers on:
1) Cultural Awareness and Cultural Development
2) The Success For Teens Course
3) Leadership Development
4) The Influence Of THE MEDIA In Our Lives
Our Current Needs:
We are asking for your support to help us push to the next level. We need donation money to help us secure space for our media center. We need money to purchase computers and other equipment to man the media center. We also need money to help the Non-profit maintain its web presence and research to continue to push forward. We are asking that members of the Black Talk Radio Network Ning site be so kind as to send in $5 month donations to help us to continue push forward with the work of this valuable Non-Profit!

Thank You,
Baba Jahi
