Our mission is based on the revelation expressed by the late human rights activist Malcolm X who shortly before his murder realized the power of media to influence the thinking of people. He noted that the American news media could make the "American public love whom they will and hate whom they will". He theorized that media could be used to as a tool in eliminating racism and hate and be used as an educational tool.
Building upon this revelation about the power of media and its ability to affect the minds of its consumers, the Black Talk Media Project aims to use all forms of media possible in a positive manner that brings value and enriches the lives of the public.
As web technology and platforms have evolved, the Internet is fast becoming the number one source for those seeking social interaction, information, education and entertainment. Therefore, we are laying the groundwork to be the number one source for family friendly and ethical media and for those seeking alternatives to the media produced by large conglomerates whose focus is on making money for shareholders. Because their focus is on making money and not necessarily on what is best for children and families, we feel that these media conglomerates have contributed to a loss of morals and values in society with their programming.
To achieve the goal of becoming the largest non-profit Internet media outlet, the Black Talk Media Project will work with student interns and partners to produce and distribute original programming for Internet Radio and Internet Television. We will provide social networking platforms with interactive and strictly regulated user-submitted content like blogs, groups, photos, music, and videos. Our social networking platforms will allow users to set up profiles and a network of friends and be closely monitored to provide the safest online experience for both children and adults.
